ur formula is based on your answers to a series of questions about your wants and needs in a new home. Don't worry! Even now, you'll already have a good idea what your answers will be, even at this early stage.
When we do our calculations on your answers to our questions, we add a factor for each of the features that will increase the final cost of your home. The factors are expressed in additional square feet instead of an additional cost. You can then multiply your factored square foot number by a basic custom home cost and the result will be much more accurate than using your raw heated square footage number.
MY ESTIMATED COST IS OUT OF MY BUDGET!
If the number is too high for your budget, now is the time to find this out! There are many ways to reduce costs, if necessary. We will discuss your options until we either get the cost of your new home to fit your budget or determine that you need to go a different route. All this happens before any of us are ready to sign a contract.
We have been working with our Cost Estimate Worksheet for several years, refining and updating it along the way. We base our contract amount on the number that comes from this worksheet, and we guarantee from the beginning that your component package will not exceed that number, based on a written set of criteria about your design.
We rework the Cost Worksheet during the design process when we do our budget checks, so you always have the most accurate "running tab" of your cost estimate. We have found this to be the best strategy for keeping our customers budgets in line.
Come along to learn the theory behind the Cost Estimate Worksheet. It's quite simple!
