Sunlight home can be whatever size it needs to be to fit the people who will live there. We can design a home to accommodate a family (or an extended family) of any size.
CUSTOM HOME SIZES

Homes in the range of 1500 to 3000 square feet are most common, but Sunlight homes have ranged from 1000 square feet to over 5000.
Sunlight homes can be designed to expand as your family's needs grow. Sometimes, starting with a smaller home fits the budget and size needs for the moment, then later, often when the children reach their teens, a carefully pre-planned addition can make all the difference!
Also, with a little planning, rooms can be designed to take on new roles in the future. For example, a bedroom can later become a studio and the transformation is easier when future electrical and plumbing needs are addressed from the beginning.
ONE STORY OR TWO?
In our experience, the cost of building a one- story home is comparable to that of a two- story. In small homes, stairs can consume a higher ratio of floor space, but if the space underneath is used wisely, it works out well. Each home style has its advantages, but since the building costs are so similar, you have the freedom of choosing between the two without a major cost difference.
ON THE GRID OR OFF?
A Sunlight home can be designed to be totally self sustaining and off the power grid, if that is what you have in mind. We have been designing passive solar homes since 1975 and have improved the art of designing solar homes in the process. More on this in our GREEN section.
