omplete custom home design services are a part of every Sunlight Homes project. Our homes have been designed in many, many sizes and styles to best fit the people who will live there. Everyone has their own, individual needs and wants for the design of their home. In design we prioritize these needs and wants with our clients, then work to include as many of them as the design budget will allow.

CUSTOM HOME STYLES

Your Sunlight home can be designed in any architectural style. The additional structural strength of our super-insulated panelized building system (SIPs) allows for more design flexibility than frame construction. Pitched roofs outside mean vaulted ceilings inside, unless you choose to add a conventional flat ceiling. While the SIP building system lends itself to any architectural style, the technology is invisible! If you have two identical houses, one built with SIPs and the other conventional frame, someone walking by couldn't tell the difference. From the inside there would be some tell-tale signs, however. A frame home would probably have a truss roof, which would mean conventional flat, 8 foot ceilings. A SIP home needs no trusses so the interior vault would reflect the exterior pitch. This added volume in the rooms gives a feeling of spaciousness and can enable us to trim square footage without even missing it!

WHAT'S YOUR STYLE?

Do you have a country farmhouse style home in mind, with a wrap-around porch and an eat-in kitchen with a fireplace? Or perhaps you'd prefer an adobe home with plastered walls, round, viga ceiling beams and a courtyard with a portal entry. Maybe a colorful Victorian is what you're after, with bay windows, steep-pitched roofs and an office in the turret. Or how about a contemporary home with clean lines, sharp angles, a lot of glass and bamboo floors? Then there is always the woodsy, mountain cabin home with cedar siding, rough-hewn beams and a prow-shaped window-wall to capture your views. Or maybe you have another idea. Your Sunlight home will be YOUR idea of home, whatever that may be.

USING YOUR DESIGN

Occasionally, people come to us with plans they've created themselves. In our experience we've found that these plans are useful for people while they are going through the process of determining their own wants and needs for their new home. There is a significant difference, however, between floor plans drawn by the layman and designs created by an experienced professional. The reason you would choose a design firm such as ours is for this experience and expertise. In order to enable us to give you the best results, we'll ask you to hold on to your sketches and allow us to take you through the design process we've developed over the last 30+ years. If, once we've been through our design process, you prefer the plan you sketched, we'll happily work with you to make it a reality. Interestingly, in all the years we've been doing this, we've never once had clients want to go back to their original drawings once they've worked with us to develop their new Sunlight home plan.
