he quality of your completed custom home will directly correspond with the quality of your design, the quality of the materials used and the quality of the workmanship. We can help assure that you have a successful project.
THE 85/15 RULE
Back in the 1980s we studied the work of Dr. W. Edwards Deming and began to apply total quality management principals to our systems. We learned that decisions made in the first 15% of any project strongly impact its success. In other words, bad choices made early can't easily be remedied later.
For example, when you are planting a garden, the first 15% will be deciding on what to plant (the design phase). If the plants are not suited to your climate and soil, no amount of water or sunshine will make them grow strong and healthy.
In building a home, choosing a designer occurs in the first 15% of the project. In construction, the materials used in the first 15% of the project (the structural shell) are the most critical; and most difficult to upgrade later. We provide the custom design and the structural shell in our component package.
THE HOMEOWNER'S CHALLENGE
The challenge to a homeowner wanting a higher quality home is to figure out how to choose the right approach that will give you what you want. In addition to a nice custom home, our customers want a predictable building process. Like everyone, they've heard the horror stories about building projects gone wrong, and they want to avoid those pitfalls.
The trouble is that design projects (whether a custom home, a piece of art or a new industrial design) are inherently unpredictable because it's never been done before.
Fortunately, there are ways to maximize predictability in custom home building. This is something we've spent years developing and we are proud of the system that we now have in place.
